Rice Krispie Reindeer

3 or 4 reindeer

Prep time: 20 plus 2hr for Rice Krispies to set

Decorating time: 10-15min 

 

Ingredients for the rice krispie cakes:

  • small slice butter (~15g)

  • 2 table spoons Fluff 

  • 6 large spoons rice krispies

  • square tin or tray

  • baking paper

You can also use marshmallows, I use Fluff as a convenient vegetarian alternative.

Ingredients for the decorations:

  • Pretzels (I found Christmas tree shaped ones, any shape will do)

  • Small marshmallows and black food colour for the eyes, or ready made icing eyes

  • Berries for the nose 

Instructions

Make the rice krispie cakes

  1. Line a Baking tray with baking paper

  2. Melt the butter in a pan on low to medium heat. Whilst its melting make sure to coat the bottom and sides of the pan with the butter 

  3. Add 2 spoons of fluff, keep stirring regularly whilst the fluff melts

  4. Take the pan of the heat and add the rice krispies, stir until they are all covered. You want the mixture to be quite saturated with rice krispies, but all of them to have become sticky from the marshmallow goo.

  5. Add the mixture into a baking tray, squeeze tightly together to make the rice krispy cake

  6. Leave the cake to set for about 2 hours

Make the reindeer

  1. Remove the rice krispie cake from the tin, and slice into the reindeer shapes. I made them rectangular, and then rounded the corners by hand.

  2. Add your decorations to make the antlers, eyes and nose. You can stick it on with some icing (large heaped spoon icing sugar with a little water) or melted white chocolate.
