Trying to incorporate new foods and introduce new flavours into your palate can seem easier said than done. When you think about your favourite food, what is your first thought? Is it something you love because of the flavours it has or is it because you haven't experienced a vast range of different foods and you are content in your choice out of a small selection?
The fortunate news is that everyone is able to create a strong food experience for themselves, and their family. If you have kids, it’s your role to present them to every possible flavor. Children are very impressionable by creating an environment in which you introduce new flavours. It'll help them to enjoy the food they get and become more aware about it.
If you agree that you should start incorporating some new foods, you don’t need to have a background with a wide range of food heritage in order to incorporate some of the many different cultures. Here are a few tips on where to start.
1.Broaden your food horizons
Trying dishes from different countries globally can give you a significant admiration for their culture. Whether you try recipes at home or find local options to try, like a nearby restaurant serving legitimate Ethiopian food, you can benefit from a better insight of their people and traditions. Many dishes emerge from centuries of groundwork and innovation. Generations have cultivated and perfected these dishes. When you have the opportunities to experience such beauty and lavishness why would you turn it down?
2. Get out of the same old eating habits
Humans are creatures of habit and tend to often buy the same things over and over again.
When you start to try new foods and find new items you enjoy, you’ll have more options to choose from. You can sometimes unintentionally allow yourself to be in the same cycle if you continue to eat the same meals or try the same restaurants frequently - try something new next time you go to the shop or choose a restaurant!
3. Improve your health with a wider variety of foods
Trying new foods will benefit you with a larger nutritional range in your diet. You will be surprised at the amount of different vitamins and minerals you can experience from trying new dishes. In many cultures they have popular dishes that have a high amount of nutritional value. For instance Japanese and Hawaiian dishes like sushi and poke, are rich in vitamins B-12, D, and C, plus iron, and magnesium.
